Membership Criteria

At Freedom Up Veterans KC, we believe that structure, accountability, and community are essential for long-term stability and successful transition after service. If you’re ready to take the next step forward, we’d be honored to walk alongside you.

Freedom Up Veterans KC is a structured co-living program designed specifically for veterans who are committed to rebuilding stability, purpose, and independence. Our homes offer a supportive, respectful, and community-driven environment in the Kansas City, Missouri area—where veterans live alongside peers who understand the value of shared experience and accountability.

Our program is designed for veterans who are ready to engage in structure, follow community standards, and take responsibility for their next chapter. If you meet the criteria below and are committed to maintaining a safe, respectful living environment, you are welcome here. If you’re not quite ready yet, we respect your journey and encourage you to return when the time is right.

Criteria to Join Our Community

  • Be a veteran, 18 years of age or older

  • Complete an interview and application process with program leadership, including a background check

  • Sign and agree to follow all house rules and community expectations

  • Participate in structured routines and accountability practices

  • Engage with external support services as appropriate (VA care, recovery support, case management, etc.)

  • Maintain employment, be actively seeking employment, be enrolled in education/training, or be engaged with supportive services

  • Participate in community responsibilities and service activities

  • Be prepared to pay the weekly membership fee and one-time deposit (flexibility available based on individual circumstances)

We strongly recommend each member commit to a minimum of three months of membership to allow time for stabilization, goal-setting, and progress toward independent living.
